The versatility of the technology allows integration into customised applications to perform specific machining operations, even on machines characterised by complex kinematics. The P170 is a particular machine with unconventional kinematics. It has been designed to perform automatic milling operations on the outer edge of soles with different inclinations. In order to minimise the machine size for the given stiffness, the P170 has been purposefully designed with rotating head and a rotating platform. This confers an unconventional kinematics to the machine. Despite the kinematics complexity, which classifies the P170 as a non-standard machine, the XStar algorithm was easily integrated bringing visible improvements, one among them being the excellent trim quality of the product.
